Project Description

Casa Heribert Pons was designed by architect Alexandre Soler i March and built in 1909. It is located at the renowned street of La Rambla de Catalunya in Barcelona. Originally a residential building, Casa Heribert Pons has gone through three major renovations. First in 1934 where it was converted into an office building. However, it retained its modernist lobby and facade, a work heavily influenced by the Viennese Secession style. Then in 1978 when it was acquired by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia. The building served as their headquarters up until 2014 when it was acquired by Angelini SpA. Under their ownership the building went through a complete interior retrofit that encompassed all material finishes, HVAC equipment, lighting and plumbing fixtures. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification under the LEEDv4 BD+C New Construction and Major Renovations Rating System.
